How To Cancel Verizon Order, Return an Item or Get Refund?

There is a downside to purchasing online! What to do if you don’t like the item or change your mind about it? Unfortunately,

Verizon is no different. You may want to change the order or return the item, but Verizon does not allow you to revert the decision with a button tap. Nonetheless, there are ways to cancel a Verizon order; if not, modify it.

How To Cancel Verizon Order? 

Verizon’s order cancellation policy is not a simple one. You can not cancel an ordered item or accessory after it has been shipped. Even so, the products you ordered must belong to the “pre-booked” category. 

However, you can choose to send back the product and request a refund. You can also refuse to accept the delivery. In this case, it will be automatically returned to the company. 

Some clients have been lucky enough to get instant order cancellation by contacting Verizon customer support service for help, but this usually works if you can get hold of it within minutes of placing the order. 

I am not done telling you all the details just yet! If you are bent on canceling an order placed with Verizon, below are some solutions you can try. 

1. Contact Verizon Fios Customer Support Team 

The customer help center at Verizon is your best bet if you want to cancel a standard phone order or something similar. The team there can help with cancellation procedures for products whose delivery can not otherwise be reverted. 

When you call Verizon to request the cancellation, make sure you have order details. This includes its confirmation number and product information. The representative at the help desk will ask for these, along with payment information, to process your request. 

2. Use the Online “Chat With Us” Option 

Alternatively to calling the support team, you can use the “Chat With Us” option on the Verizon website or click on the same button in the app to get instant guidance. 

It will put you in touch with a Verizon agent who can assist you in order cancellation. This also works better if you place the request within 10 minutes of confirming the order online. 

3. Press the Cancel Button For Pre-Orders 

There are specific types of orders with Verizon Fios that show the Cancel button before they are shipped. This means you have time to remove the order, and the refund will be instant. Most phones are available for pre-orders or back-orders. You just have to click on My Orders and then Cancel. 

There is nothing you can do if the item shipment has already left. Although the Cancel option is no longer available, you can still wait to obtain the order and send it back for a refund. However, it will obviously take longer to be processed. 

4. Turn Down Order Delivery 

You could turn down order acceptance if you had placed it for same-day delivery or same-day delivery with the order. In either case, the delivery person will return the item, and you will get a refund. This happens as soon as the company logs it in as an order refusal. 

It is the best case scenario if you can get the refund within 24-48 hours. However, I have observed that the refund can take longer if you turn down the delivery. The delay is typically on the bank’s end or with the debit card/credit card company that you used for payment. 

5. Do Not Pick Up The Order When It Arrives 

Buyers who have placed an order with in-store pickup have an easy way out: Don’t go to receive the order; it will automatically be canceled after three days. 

Moreover, you will not need to place a refund request with Verizon, as the money will be returned when the order has not been picked up at the store. It can take up to 7 days, but the funds are reversed in most cases once the 72-hour pickup window passes. 

What Verizon Orders Can You Cancel?

Whether you can cancel a Verizon order depends primarily on the type of order you placed. You can say that some are easier to revert while others are impossible. 

1. Phone Orders

You can cancel the Verizon order placed for the phone and make a new one if you want. However, this depends on a couple of things. The most important factor is whether the phone order has been shipped or not and what kind of phone order it was. 

Verizon offers two orders: pre-orders/back-ordered phones and standard phone orders. 

● Pre-ordered/back-ordered phones, when delivered, will show their delivery status on the My Orders page on the Verizon account. You will also have a Cancel button if the phone has not been shipped. 

● There is no cancellation option for Standard phone orders. However, you may have a chance to cancel it if you do so within 10 minutes of placing the order. 

Immediate cancellation requests can be made by calling Verizon Support or clicking on the Chat With Us button on their page.

If none of these options work, you can always return the phone once it is delivered. You can then place a new order after getting the refund. 

Unfortunately, Verizon does not allow you to change the original order once it is confirmed. However, you can confirm this information on their Return Policy page. Moreover, buyers must pay a $50 restocking fee when they return or exchange a wireless device, except in Hawaii. 

2. Accessory Orders 

Accessory orders with Verizon can not be canceled. This is true for orders that you place online or through the Verizon app. However, there are some workarounds for this if you want a refund or exchange of the item.

● The first thing you can try is to call the customer support service immediately. The help desk is available for prompt response between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday and between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sundays. Share with them the details of the order and why you want to cancel it. Hopefully, they will be able to revert it as soon as possible. 

● Alternative to this, you can also use the “Chat With Us” feature on the website at the bottom of the page. Furthermore, you can select Mobile char, Chat about Fios Home or Chat about 5G Home to specify the matter you need guidance on. 

● Supposedly, if you cannot contact the Verizon team, the next action in line should be to receive the order and return it along with a request for a refund. You can also get the item and then exchange it if you have another order in mind. 

Verizon has a limit on the bill-to-account payment method. Therefore, if you place an order and pay with it, there are chances your limit may exceed for the second order. In this case, you can either wait for the item to arrive, get a refund and then place the other order or pay using another payment option. 

3. Same Day Delivery Orders 

Most buyers opt for same-day delivery of items they order online and need urgently. Unfortunately, you can not cancel any such order and must wait for the item to arrive. Once it is at your doorstep, you can either accept the delivery and then send it back for a refund or exchange, or you can refuse to pick up the order and wait for the company to reimburse you. 

4. In-Store Pickup Orders 

You can also not cancel the orders you placed with the in-store pick, but these are quite easy to refuse. If you don’t want the item, don’t go to the store to receive it. The order will then be automatically canceled, although the store authority will wait up to 3 days to finalize the cancellation. 

After 72 hours, Verizon will return the item and refund your online payment. Bank and debit card refunds can happen overnight, but if you had paid using a credit card, it could take 3 to 5 days to process the transaction. 

5. Same-Day Delivery and Set Up Orders 

Same as with on-day delivery and in-store pickup orders, orders that you choose to deliver on the same day and setup can not be canceled. The only way out is to refuse the order once it arrives. 

Does It Take Long To Cancel The Order? 

The procedure of cancellation should not take longer than 48 hours to finish. But, of course, it may take longer or shorter than this so that is nothing to worry about. 

When you cancel a Verizon order, the time it takes to do so depends on what you ordered and how you paid for it. In any case, you should maintain touch with the customer support service at Verizon until the matter is resolved. 

Is It Possible To Cancel a Verizon Fios Order?

Yes. You can cancel a Verizon Fios order if you have the order confirmation number and other relevant details. 

Moreover, when you call Verizon for cancellation, ensure you provide the reason for doing so. You can call the support team at 1-844-837-2262 during business days and within working hours. 

Does Verizon Refund Payment?

Verizon does promise to refund the payment, but the offer is conditional. Depending on your payment history, you may not be eligible for a refund. According to the policy mentioned on the official website, Verizon checks history for the past 12 months. Therefore, you should have paid the bill in full and on time for at least ten months to get a refund for the canceled service. 

If the company determines that you are eligible for a refund, it will give you the amount back in full. This will be charged to your credit or debit card, depending on which you previously used for payments. 

Can I Change My Delivery Address For a Verizon Online Order?

It is common to see buyers wanting to change their address for a delivery they have already finalized. However, it is not always simple to do so.

For example, new Verizon customers can not change their shipping address after confirming the order. However, if it is impossible to obtain the item from the wrong address, you can cancel the pickup instead, wait for a refund and then place a new order with an updated contact address. 

● You can find the delivery status on the My Orders page on the Verizon account. 

● This will show you whether the item has been shipped or not.

● Given that the delivery is already underway, you can only wait for it to arrive and exchange the item within the next 30 days. 

As for the customer placing orders on Verizon right now, the “Chat With Us” option is always available from where you can get in touch with the representatives and request them to update the delivery address. I can’t promise that this will be processed immediately, but it is a quick method to make due changes.

What you ordered, the payment method that you choose, and whether the item has already been shipped or not determine if you can cancel the Verizon order. Nothing is worth worrying about because, even with the order, you can not cancel. A refund or exchange is possible when you receive the delivery and send it back to the company.
